Philippine ICI Ministry

Asia Pacific View, May 2002

New ICI Philippine National Office

On April 20, 2002 a five-year dream came to pass. On that Saturday, the new office facility was dedicated as 150 people gathered together for a time of celebration. ICI director, missionary Mike Williams has led this great ministry since 1998. The new facility has more than 2,000 square feet of space with additional room for growth.

Ministry Enrichment Program

This year ICI launched its new MINISTRY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM. This program is trains leadership and strengthens church members. The launching project was a leadership seminar for the Manila district and sectional officers. 25 leaders attended the Mentoring in Leadership seminar. After meetings and consultations with other sectional officers the Ministry Enrichment Program was launched in several sections of the Philippine General Council of the Assemblies of God. Conferences were recently conducted in both in Metro Manila and Cebu City for pastors, church members, church workers, and others, which will enable them to be more effective in their ministries. In 2002 over twenty seminars and conferences have been scheduled.

Training Centers

EVANGELISM, DISCIPLESHIP AND LEADERSHIP (ELD) Training Centers, with the grace of God, twenty five ELD Training Centers have been established nationwide this year. These centers focus on reaching out to the non-believer, the new convert, and the mature Christian in local churches. This program has helped many churches to reach out to their neighborhoods for Christ. Our goal for this year is to add 100 new Centers throughout the Philippines.

Bible Curriculum

This new ministry is touching thousands of school children spiritually from kinder to grade school. Both Christian and non-Christian children are being blessed by this ministry. Over 90 schools in Metro Manila and different parts of the Philippines are now using ICI’s Bible Curriculum as part of their Christian Values Education classes. As of now, there are 8,738 students using these materials. The Christian Life and Christian Service programs of ICI are also being used in some of the High Schools in Metro Manila as a part of their curriculum with about 332 students presently enrolled.

Light in Picture

Over 45 Church Crusades were held in 2002 by ICI’s “Light In Pictures” Ministry. These Gospel video presentations have resulted in over 4,900 people accepting Christ as their Lord.

Heavens Gates; Hells Flames

About 2,200 people were able to see the presentation of “Heavens Gates; Hells Flames,” and as a result of this drama ministry, over 850 people have come to the Lord. One pastor in Cebu said that because of this ministry, 53 members were added to his congregation.

Matling School Project

New opportunities and challenges just keep coming. THE MATLING SCHOOL PROJECT is in the southern most part of Mindanao, known as the Antonymous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). In this area is a plantation of about 12,000 acres. This plantation has about 1000 working families, of which one-third are Christian, one-third are Catholic, and one-third are Muslim. There is an existing Christian school with about 350 students. We are helping this school with tuition funds so additional children can attend the school. One note though, it is very difficult to reach this site due to it being controlled by the Muslims.
